If at first you don't succeed...sue, sue again.
A new lawsuit has been filed in Federal Court challenging the new restrictions on Texas abortion clinics which were passed in the Legislature last week.
The Center for Reproductive Rights and Whole Woman's Health, an abortion provider, are asking a federal judge to throw out rules that require abortion clinics to follow the same standards as surgical care centers.
The groups say the requirement would leave 'fewer than ten' abortion clinics open in the entire state.
Whole Woman's Health says they had to close two clinics in the Rio Grande Valley just last month due to the requirement.
A federal appeals court recently ruled that another key provision of the law, which requires clinics to have physicians with admitting privileges at a hospital within thirty miles of the clinic, was a reasonable restriction designed to protect patents from potential complications from abortions.
