Former Memorial Teacher Appears in Court on Child Porn Charges

A former Edgewood Memorial High School teacher appeared in federal court today to answer to felony possession of child pornography charges, 1200 WOAI's Michael Board reports.

Marcus Revilla, 44, who resigned as a teacher after his relationship with a then-15 year old student was revealed, is charged with possessing sexual photographs of the girl.  Since she is underage, that makes it a child pornography violation.

The girl is pregnant and Revilla is believed to be the father of her child.

Revilla was ordered to remain in custody.  If he is convicted on the new charges, Revilla faces up to twenty years in federal prison.

A police officer in the Edgewood ISD is also accused of having an improper relationship with the same girl.

A relationship between a teacher and a student is illegal, regardless of any claimed attachment between the two.
