Texas Town to Pay Nugent NOT To Appear

Seventies rocker Ted Nugent has become so toxic that the City of Longview is paying him not to perform at the city's Fourth of July celebrations, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Nugent, 65, recently became an issue in the race for Texas governor, when comments like calling President Obama a 'subhuman mongrel' splashed back on Republican Greg Abbott when the two made joint campaign appearances.  Nugent later apologized for the 'subhuman mongrel' comment.

Longview Mayor Jay Dean said the city was looking for a family oriented program, and he was afraid Nugent didn't fit the bill.

A city official said the controversy on the campaign trail was one reason why Nugent has been 'disinvited.'

It's good work if you can get fired from it.  Nugent will make a little over $16,000 to sit home that night and do nothing.
